If you send the exact same cold email too many times, then your emails will be marked as spam by email service providers.
The reason why this happens is because email service providers don’t want to show bulk unsolicited email (spam) to their users. If you are sending the exact same email template hundreds of times, then this will be a big red flag to email service providers that your emails are spam.
In this article, I will show you how to make the content of each email different, while still sending a high volume of cold emails.
I will cover the following topics:
There is no exact answer to this question.
However, I recommend that you don’t send the exact same email more than 10 to 20 times.
Potentially, you could send the same cold email more than this, but it’s not worth risking your sender reputation score.
If you plan to only send a low volume of cold emails to a small list of leads, then it shouldn’t be too difficult to write a custom email for each lead that is unique.
The issue is when you want to cold email hundreds or thousands of leads, since you won’t have enough time to write a custom email for each lead. In this scenario, you will need to use a special cold email software (such as Emailchaser).
The next section in this article explains how to make the content of each of your cold emails different at scale (using Emailchaser).
When you are sending a high volume of cold emails, the only way to make the content (subject line and body) of each cold email different is to use a special cold email software, such as Emailchaser.
There are two things that you should do:
You should personalize each cold email by using “custom variables”. This will allow you to automatically update key information in each email, such as the recipient's first name, so that your emails appear personalized just for them. You can read my article How To Personalize Cold Emails At Scale to learn how to use custom variables to personalize your cold email campaigns.
You should make each cold email that you send slightly different, so that you aren’t sending the exact same email over and over again. Only changing the first name and a couple of other pieces of information using custom variables isn’t enough to avoid spam filters.
I recommend that you use Emailchaser to send your cold email campaigns because it can do both of the above.
First, Emailchaser allows you to use custom variables, so that each email you send will automatically update key pieces of information, such as the first name, company name etc. This will make a big difference in improving your response rate, as your recipients will think that you personalized the email just for them.
Secondly, Emailchaser has a special feature that utilizes OpenAI's GPT model (most recent version). This feature automatically updates the subject line and body text of each email so that it still follows your original template, but is slightly different. This will prevent email service providers (Gmail, Outlook etc) from marking your emails as spam, since all of your emails will be slightly different.
Below is an example of an original email template that I wrote:
And below is the slightly modified version that OpenAI's GPT model produced:
When you use Emailchaser to send your cold email campaigns, it will do the above for you automatically, so that if you send a high volume of cold emails, such as 1,000, each of these 1,000 cold emails will not only have personalization (custom variables), but the actual content (subject line and body text) will be slightly different for each email, while still being based off of your original template.
This is crucial for keeping your emails in the primary inbox (not spam). Only Emailchaser offers this feature.
It depends on how many cold emails you plan to send.
If you are only sending a small number of emails, such as 50, then you can probably get away with using the exact same subject line in each email.
However, if you are sending a higher volume, such as 100 or 1,000 cold emails, then you will need to change your subject line slightly for each email, to avoid going to spam.
If you use Emailchaser to send your cold email campaigns, then it will automatically update your subject line for each email.
You can use a first name custom variable in your subject line, so that your recipient’s first name appears in each email. Emailchaser will also use ChatGPT to update the text in each subject line.
For example, if your subject line is “{FirstName} - Quick question”, then Emailchaser will change it slightly to the following:
“{FirstName} - question”
“Question for {FirstName}”
“{FirstName} - question about”
etc.
This allows you to send a high volume of cold emails, while still adding personalization to each subject line, and changing the text as well. This will help you avoid spam folders.
If you are sending a low volume of cold emails, then I recommend that you customize each email manually. If you are sending a high volume of emails, then you need to use a special cold email software such as Emailchaser.
The best way to change your cold email content automatically is to use a specialized cold email software, such as Emailchaser.
If you send the exact same cold email too many times, then your emails will land in spam.
Email service providers, such as Gmail and Outlook, view it as a huge red flag when an email account sends the exact same email too many times.
I recommend that you use Emailchaser to send your cold email campaigns, as it automatically adds personalization to your emails. It also utilizes ChatGPT to change the subject line and body text of your emails slightly so that no two emails are identical. It does all of this while still maintaining the message and style of your original email template.
Finally, I recommend that you read my other article How To Send Cold Emails Without Landing In Spam.
